This carpet was left in storage for over 30 years. Its owner, Jonathan Quayle - a respected collector of Maritime Antiquities decided to have it thoroughly and professionally cleansed by the best. He looked no further than Robert Behar and his company Behar Profex based in Islington. This footage is from a recent television programme on BBC4 on the Golden age of liners which was produced and directed by Rachel Jardine and was 1st broadcast nationaly on 22nd October 2009.
Now why don't they put that rug back in the ship?! It looks much better than the one they have now!

FYI; It's from the 1st class LOUNGE- it replaced the original(1936) green & gray colored "art deco leaf" pattern Wilton carpet during the post-war refiting of the ship. The original carpet was said to have been stolen by workers who removed it from the ship for suposed cleaning/storage.

I hope the finished item looked great. Such history in a rug!
