Hornady state on their website that the 17HMR has "Honest 200 yard performance", but their own ballistics data immediately disproves that. Topped off with my few years I've been using (and loving) this round I thought it was time to test it properly.

Using ballistics gel and a rangefinder I show that at 200 yards, the HMR lacks the ability to expand at 200m so is an unethical round to hunt with at that range. Crawl closer or use the 223!
