Mammoth crowds participate in the Nallur festival
The annual festival of the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna concludes today. Our Special Representative Suneth Hewawitharana in a report said a large number of devotees are participating.
The annual festival of the Nallur Kovil commenced on the 6th of this month and continued for 26 days. It ends today. Various Poojas were conducted with the participation of thousands of devotees. Head of the Jaffna Division Brig. J.R. Kulatunga opined that about 300,000 devotees had gathered for the final day of the festival. Troops were meeting all requirements of the devotees. They were being provided with flowers and food and drink. The troops earned accolades from the devotees for meeting their needs. The devotees were of the view that a high number would participate in next year's festival after the troops had completely liberated the Wanni from the terrorists.
