jubeat is the all-new Bemani game that was released in Japan recently. The game is played by touching 16 buttons that are also screens, arranged in a 4x4 grid. Supplemental information is displayed on an additional screen above the play buttons, but all the notes show up on the buttons themselves a fraction of a second before you need to press them.

Songs are:
Mutsuhiko Izumi - Snow Goose EXT
Mutsuhiko Izumi - Heaven & Hell EXT
ki*ki - Happy Happy EXT

All rated 9 (out of 10 I assume, although there's no song rated 10 yet). If you weren't able to discern from the title of the video itself that this is not me playing, then you really need to be more observant in your day-to-day life!

Get a higher quality version of the video (full size without all the cropping I had to do for Youtube's aspect ratio) here:

  • Filmed in Japan? I figure that 0/2 for a game would be cheap here... but if it were 100 yen it would be another story.

    I play in Hong Kong.

  • Yeah, this particular machine cost 200 yen per game, although that depends more on the arcade than the game itself. Most arcades in Japan only charge 100 yen a game for Bemani (including jubeat), but this was a more expensive arcade in Akihabara.

  • Higher quality video file added to description.

  • I do that too. I think it's a habit from Pop'n, where at the end of the game you have to press the red button to get your e-amuse pass to come out but the game doesn't say exactly when you need to do it so everyone just mashes it.

  • Wow. from how the songs play, it makes me think there's a hidden difficulty level :3

  • Honestly, 9 is hard enough for now :( Kaze is just ridiculous at it. I can't clear many 3s and some 2s, at least not on my first few tries.

  • Kaze playing Jubeat?

    makes too much sense

  • Also, tell Kaze that spamming the SELECTION button will not make the game switch screens faster.

  • Ah... You were playing in Akiba... hmm..

  • FULL COMBO OMG KAZE RULES

  • k仔尼?

  • lol the diagonal lines. Instead of beating himself, he beats the panels!

  • On the Japanese version there are two level 10s. You can unlock them once you get to S rank. They are "In the Name of Love" and "Giga Break". In the Name of Love is decidedly easier than Giga Break...

  • There are 2 level 10 songs, they aren't unlocked until you reach S rank. There are also a few unlockable 8s and 9s at earlier ranks.

  • There will never be a music game that Hudson wont be able to conquer.

  • Of course Kaze is awesome at it. :P
