Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles Playthrough Part 1

Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles is a very poorly designed game from a mechanical standpoint, but the story and art direction are phenomenal. I'm very much into dark fantasy and surrealism and this game intertwines the two beautifully. It's hard to find something like this that has originality and doesn't end up being ripped off of someone else's style. The game is very hard to play; The controls are very loose, collision detection is almost nonexistent at times and there are numerous bugs and camera problems. I can overlook all of this because the art direction is truly inspired and engaging. This game is very difficult to get a hold of, but I was fortunate enough to snag a copy of it. Do not ask me for a download link or torrent. If I had one I'd give it but it's just impossible to find.

The video may slow down or have some weird graphic problems and I don't know why. The game is quite old [released around 2001] and as such only runs at a maximum of 60fps at 1024x768. So recording at 25fps while only getting 60fps makes it even harder to play. However, I'm making these videos so that anyone who is fortunate enough to hear about this game can see it without having to hunt it down [unless they want to] or hopefully it can serve, even if only in a small way, as inspiration to another artist. This game as well as a few choice films and other artists have inspired my visual art style and this is one of them. Please enjoy.

P.S. Sorry for the little pops and extra background noise in the narraration, that won't be a constant in the future.

Well technically that's not true. Ubisoft did indeed develop and publish Rayman 2 but Evil Twin was developed by InUtero and published by Ubisoft so it's two different developers, but one publisher in common ;D

Afraid not man, that's why I love this game so much. It really is one of a kind. My harddrive crashed some time ago so I've been working on getting more videos up but I lost alot of footage unfortunately.

aahh to bad :( , yeah i heard the game has alot of glitches ...ect.. probs with camera and stuff,.. but its all worth it because of the dark cartoonish look,and that indeed is very intressting , guess i'll try it ^^ thnx 4 the vids :)

It does, but you can forgive it and its flaws when you get to the cutscenes and when you see some really inspired visuals. Someone here mentioned American McGee's Alice. You may want to try that. It's a similar feel but it has over the top blood and gore. It's actually a really good/fun game because it's not plagued by the same issues as Evil Twin but has all the atmosphere and moodiness. It's pretty easily obtained as well, give it a shot.

I want to play this game. After tracking it down on ebay, I can't get it to work on Windows XP. What OS did you play it on, or did you play the Dreamcast version? Do you know where to find or do you have the patch for newer OSs?

I really wanted to see more of this game, but it's so god damn pants! I ended up selling it to my friend with a sigh of relief. I would really like to see this game remade by a proper developer...

I think I'm going to buy it again. It only cost me a pound after all.
