The movie (after the 1972 novel by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre) is set around the dramatic creation of the State of Israel in 1949. In New York, Jewish Bobby Goldman (JJ Feild) meets Arab Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui). They become close friends and have a good time together. When they both travel to Jerusalem to wait for the decision of the UN concerning the UN Partition Plan the conflict between Arabs and Jews leads into terrorism. When the fight for the control of Jerusalem becomes worse, Bobby and Saïd find themselves on different sides...

I LIKE this character who won't tolerate nonsense. I get so sick of people who take on prejudices that they don't even believe in! But I've seen it over and over. All for the approval of someone they respect. Easy to say but why won't people research what they put their lives on the line for?
