  • Well, I've ordered the wood so I guess I'm committed to building mine! I pick it up from the Amish this weekend. After that, I order the pipe. Thanks a lot, you've made a greenhouse a reality for me!

  • @SassafrasHomestead

Glad to see you're on your way! Best of luck setting it up. It's a lot of work but well worth it.

  • Once I finished bracing the end walls (not shown) I cut the excess off flush.

  • Good work and great instruction. Good luck.

Thanks for your comment. As soon as the weather breaks a bit I'll have a follow-up video.

  • I have seen many hoop houses but yours is the best instructional so far. So, how has it held up under snow? Will you do a follow up?

  • @SassafrasHomestead

Appreciate the compliment! Decided not to put a new top on until the weather breaks. Seemed like it was snowing almost daily there for a while. Hope I'll get the new skin on within the month and of course will have the video cam rolling when I do.

  • This is a very good video. Are you still using this hoop house? One of the best I've seen.

  • What type of wood?

    How long to rot?

  • nice vid microfarmer. We found a 30 x 50 commercial high tunnel on craigslist. we love it, but we're going to need more cover and these vids have given us some ideas - thanks!

  • Good, clear explanation.

  • We have the ribs up but I noticed something that you might want to mention. If you tighten the bolts too tight when installing the hip boards, the pipe will start to flatten, creating weak points. I guess I just get too over-zealous with the ratchet! LOL

  • I was watching your video again and noticed the ridgepole is extended beyond the end rib. How are you going to prevent it from piercing the poly?
