The reasonn the mare "squats" after mating is sometimes they think its weird having semen in them, and are almost rying to get it out, even though she wants to be covered. And the mare sttood pretty still.. She shouldnt have needed a twitch, even though it had a bit of an effect on her.

Its called twitching, and yes, they probably shouldnt have done it.. If the mare puts up a fight during breeding, that usually means shes not ready.
