We can only hope that the Tomb Raider Soundtrack is comercially released this time, as for the last 15 years Eidos has failed to publish music from the last eight Tomb Raider installments (or nine if you include Anniversary's score). Thankfully Square Enix is now in charge; this might change.

The music has a subtle introduction of piano and then guitar layers, purporting darker undertones. This literally and symbolically creates a distinct feel for Tomb Raider; made explicitly separate to the rest of the music of the Tomb Raider franchise which the guitar as an instrument is particularly foreign to. Most similar to music from Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, fully orchestrated strings follow which are accompanied by percussion. The instruments develop into an inverted minor derivation of the classic Tomb Raider motif composed by Nathan McCree in 1996, providing an unsettling familiarity.

¹ Note that this may not be the main theme. GameInformer merely states it is "a track from the game itself". All we know is that it consists of music from Tomb Raider. There is no additional information at this time.

"Before we get ahead of ourselves here, Alex Dimitrijevic is scoring the trailer. We officially haven't announced the composer for the game", but that "Were delighted to have such an esteemed composer working with us on our first major Tomb Raider asset. Which is due to drop very soon"

The "asset" concerned is the trailer. This is an excerpt from the score to the upcoming CGI "Turning Point" Teaser Trailer for Tomb Raider, due to hit us on the 3rd of June, 2011.

Helloooo! I'm getting desperate here! Can someone confirm if this music will or won't be in ANY part of the game? If not, that's gonna be a tragical waste, this music is so beautiful, I wonder how fantastic it'll be after these first amazing 50 seconds...

@Bruno1986BR Dimitrijevic confirmed for me that all the music he wrote for Tomb Raider is now owned buy Crystal Dynamics. He wrote this piece for the "Turning Point" trailer, and ultimately it was unused. Aleksandar is currently no longer with Crystal.

Karl Stewart, Global Brand Director @ CD, recently said that they have hired an entirely new composer for the game, which they'll elaborate on later this year. Their music was heard in the E3 trailer.

To Everyone complaining about tomb raider "copying" everyone, might I remind you all that this series has been around alot longer than silent hill. And to even think that tomb raider is a rendered version if uncharted, well let's just say that if anything, uncharted copyed tomb raider. Tomb raider first started in the 90's and uncharted didn't come out until what, 2008? The only thug uncharted changed, was that the explorer character is a man, not the wonderful lady croft

Ughh! :/ I effing hate Crystal Dynamics and what they turned tomb raider into! :/ It doesn't even look like a tomb raider game :/ Lara doesn't even look like Lara :( I wish core were still involved...Those were the best tomb raiders :)
