@mattysmommy2010 if the pedestrian is in the wrong the driver must always yield the right of way to the pedestrian. It is the drivers fault, obviously the bus was travelling too fast. I know this stuff for a fact. You can ask any attorney and they won't tell you different and if they do they did not go to law school.

what was the name of the woman that died?
-
not the bus drivers fault

A VERY sad incident. It's puzzling how this could happen at such a low speed area and in such a manner. I would think the poor woman would have been struck and fall away from the bus and not actually go underneath it. I know it doesn't change anything now. I hope we all learn something from this terrible happening.......

@tia1169 Well said !

@Frani922 I completely agree with you. And thank you for mentioning how the sidewalks are never properly cleaned and can be dangerous. I just read an article and the city is saying that sidewalk safety is almost a number one priority to them. I would to say that is a load of crap. Many times ive had to walk through snow up to my knees even a few days after a snow fall, on a main road. And the ice is also an issue, I have fallen quite a few times and i have even helped quite a few elderly ladies

I understand that no judgement must be done on the driver yet. However, do you guys realize that the poor lady ended up well below the bus: do you guys really believe that this could happen within the speed limits??Some bus drivers are behind schedule and want to compensate that by speeding in some areas... whoever took a bus trip is aware of that. Whoever lives in this city must know the difficulties some pedestrians have because the sidewalks are not properly clean. Lets not be blind...
I was at the front of this bus with my fiance and 2 infant children when it happened. My fiance was 1 of the 2 men that went under the bus to see if she was alive and I'd just like to say that those of us that stuck around to give statements feel it was not the drivers fault. The red hand was flashing and the women tried to beat the bus.One made it the other didn't. This was a horrible accident and I'm sure everyone just wants someone to blame but that really doesn't matter, does it??

One of the biggest problems in this city with traffic lights is the fact that you have a walk signal and at the same time the traffic has a green light that allows them to make right and left turns and run people over. I would blame the idiots that design traffic light system
