I really prefered games of Squaresoft and Enix separated it was just freaking cooler. Now everything in graphics and nothing in the rest.

Story and characters definitely where one of the most outstanding in gaming history. From a drama more romantic point of view.
It has this really mature feeling around it.

10-2 was terrible
11 was an MMORPG (wtf?)
12 SUCKED and was way too hard
and 13 was bad, made it halfway thru and sold the game... but the graphics were amazing

I would have to agree. While there are some good aspects of the later games, there were still a lot of bad attributes. Like the fighting style in XIII. :|
