  • @blackarawak83 exactly we are a mix of central and west african tribes. naturally as you've mentioned the two regions influenced each other and formed a new culture.

  • @Xaymaicana I know that the JA Maroon traditions originated from Ghana(the Akans Obeah and Myal)whereas the Kumina didn't originate in that region but in central Africa. Over time there would have been a syncretysm ot the two traditions.

  • @PUPOSQUEST nope. kumina is congolese.

there is even a city names kumina in DRC.

  • @shariifba NOPE! it's from central africa.

  • @blackarawak83 lol do you know what a Maroon is?

  • @blackarawak83 Thanks.

  • @arawakalina971 this dance isn't a maroon dance at all. It belongs yo the thousands indentured labourers who came to Jamaica after the East Indians in the late 19th century. They came from the Congo-Angola regions

  • Great for My research thank you.

  • Kumina is from the buger pulaar from mali not ghana and the dance resemble many dance done in north africa

  • What is the name of this ghanaian dance?
