Barack Obama has resigned his church membership amidst new controversy concerning politics and the pulpit at the Trinity United Church of Christ. Rev. Michael Pfleger, a visiting Catholic priest and long time Obama associate mocked Obama's Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a raucous display of ridicule, alleging Clinton embraces "white entitlement" thinking when it comes to the presidency.
Pfleger, a Catholic priest at St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church on Chicago's Southwest side, as well as, a long time friend of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has since issued an apology for his damaging political remarks that have ultimately forced Obama into leaving the church he and his family have been a part of for over 20 years.
Obama issued an official statement on Thursday stating that he is "deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn't reflect the country I
see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause".
