Damn, what a great band! Was lucky to see Traffic (Steve and Jim) in So. Bend in the 1990's. Miss the band and especially Jim. RIP brother.

awesome awesome stuff. music for my funeral and wake! i was in 9th grade when this stuff came out.... it was stunned then and am still stunned at their musical genius, the variety of sounds and most of all REAL COMPOSITION!

you dont see improvisation on-stage like this anymore, thats `cos the musicianship (and the economy) has dried all the creative juice up! now the A/R guys look to guitar schools for acts (Vai,Gilbert,Satriani,Mayer,) thats how bad it is!

Capaldi is horribly underrated. God help me Dave Mason was in this band too. Today's musicians are way too pretentious. They should be required to listen to this to understand versatility and feeling. But today's record companies are Exxon and Haliburton compared to our generation.

Diggit man. That's right on. Winwood is top on this...Capaldi too. Spot on form. I get what your saying about "Many A Mile". Not many people know that Winwood is the principle guitar player of "most" of Traffic, or even that he plays the solo in "Dear Mr. Fantasy". Genius. Capaldi is WAY underrated too. Vox on this are so damned good, I wished they'd released THIS as "Canteen", diggit? I'm 29 years young, but i've dug Traffic since 9 y/0, and "Santa Monica" Makes me wish lived 10 years earlier!

His playing on Dear Mr. Fantasy shows his awesome skills the best I think. Lack of ego is another factor. He is concerned with the over all sound and not HIS personal need to shine! How many guitarists can perform at his level with no second guitar to carry some of the load. He is able to provide rythum, lead and fill by himself. His choices are incredible. Universally under rated except by his peers!

Right you are sir. Part of this results from no second guitar... one rythm one lead. Stevie covers both elements. crazy talented
