I'm reminded of an interview by Richard Harris--when he got into trouble the British headlines would read something like "Irish Actor in Bar Brawl". When he won an award, the same papers would read "British Actor Wins Award". Sort of funny. Day-Lewis lives in Wickow for a reason...

If Lewis didn't make this movie that year, my second vote would go to Viggo. But of course, Daniel's portrayal as Daniel Plainview wasn't just acting. That man sees it much more than that, he literally BECOMES Daniel Plainview. He's not even Lewis anymore. THAT, folks, is a true actor.

Are you serious? I'm sorry but Depp's performance was a little campy. It just seemed like a big joke. But compared to Bale, yeah he was good.

ya, clooney a competition to DDL is not funny, he is highly overrated. VM was great in eastern promises, wouldnt have been surprised had he won.

Day-Lewis's choices of movie are pretty hard and many of his characters make me cry non-stop afterward, yet I still try to bring myself to watch all of his movies. He's such a talented actor and you can see that he chooses this career for the sake of it, not for fame or money or anything.
