On August 11, 2006, a condensed live version of the infamous Green Day mashup album "Dean Gray: American Edit" was performed as a "mini mashup rock opera" at the Bootie 3-Year Anniversary party at DNA Lounge in San Francisco. It was entited "Dean Gray - American Edit: The Theatrical Experience."
The show was presented by Bootie's house band Smash-Up Derby and starred performance artist Foxy Cotton. It was a combination of live music, theatre, and visuals, and it was the first and only time it was performed.
This is "American Jesus," which mashes up Green Day's "American Idiot" with a variety of other songs. It is a lip-sync performance, and is the only number in the show that does not feature live music by Smash-Up Derby.
The video was shot and edited by Ben Estabrook from Altamont Productions.
