@lepilotexc90 Agree with you. My 2006 XC90 (Haldex 3) can handle the snowy steep Colorado roads, even when I beat the snow plows there. It's even handled a moderately steep, very muddy dirt road. See the video "Volvo XC90 6 cylindres Sport" (French) on you tube for an impressive XC90 mud drive. But I agree with you, The XC90 is not for serious mudding.

The Volvo is a little more than a four wheel or all wheel drive station wagon whereas the Pilot is a SUV that is also offered in a truck version called the Ridgeline. They are both bound to have different qualities. He should have compared the Volvo to a Subaru which is more similar than the Pilot.

you have to take for account that the XC90 cannot lock in 4wd mode like the Pilot. The XC90 is all-wheel-drive and not 4wd. On the Pilot, the guy pushes a button to engage 4wd. And other thing, you shouldnt buy an Xc90 if you plan on going offroad in mud. But trust me, it does really great on ice and snow in real life conditions.

The Pilot got a better test of its off road capabilitys. The XC 90 barely went though any mud.
