I saw this superb play this week and can thoroughly recommend it. I live in Blackburn and having read the book I was particularly interested to see how it would be dramatised. Philip Goulding's adaptation was so well done, Kevin Shaw's direction so ingenious and Kenneth Alan Taylor's performance (as the older Woodruff) so charismatic that it worked perfectly - on Alison Heffernan's amazing set. About 40 parts were played by just 8 very strong actors who also sang in beautiful harmony -a cappella
