HEMSBY 43 ROCK AND ROLL WEEKENDER JIVE CONTEST. THIS COMPETITION WAS WON BY 13 YEAR OLD SALV AND HIS DANCE PARTNER TENNESSEE. YOU CAN SEE THEM DANCING AT THE BACK. SALV IS WEARING ALL BLACK, WITH A WALLET CHAIN ON HIS JEANS. TENNESSEE IS IN JEANS, WHITE TOP AND A RED TURBAN. FILMED BY RUTHIE ON 11TH OCTOBER 2009.

I have to ask...when I watch old clips from the 50's the jives look so different, even the different couples on the floor are doing different moves and variations..... every one of these that I have watched have been the same moves/steps done very well but there all the same.... every single one!! What happened to the jive???

@MsKathleen2009 Hello Kathleen, The styles of jive have evolved and changed a lot over the years. If you are watching genuine old clips of jive, then they would have been doing the jitterbug, lindyhop and swing jive. Those were the original jive styles from America, and still done today but much more on the current 1940s scene. There is also the modern French jive, but people on that scene jive to modern music and are very rarely into the whole 50's lifestyle. Thanks

@Chris62007 This brilliant weekender is on twice a year every year, so please do make an effort. Each Hemsby weekender is numbered we have just had Hemsby 44 in May 2010. It gets a lot cheaper the more people you can share your chalet with. You can either eat in and around the camp, or go self catering to save money.

@PonytailRuth Thanks for filming this, I am so proud to be Salv's Mum and he had only had less than 10 lessons from Kav then too as he is a natural rockabilly! Next time he may enter with his girlfriend (we all know who!) can't wait to see that!
