That's interesting. What is the limiting factor in the Rajay? Is it the amount of MP boost you get or is it hard to maintain turbo temps?

Ah. I've got an event 1000 lbs of useful load (1000.2 as I recall). Replacing the factory starter put me over the 1000 edge. :) Its a great airplane but I"m limited in the winter by altitude. If there are clouds over the Sierras I'd need 20,000+ to clear them (they are too icy and the MEA is too high for IFR). A turbo would make that nice.

Wow, 30 minutes to 10,000 seems wrong. It shouldn't take that long. I departed DAG near gross and circled up through a layer up to 16,000. I do have an STC'd A3B6 (same as a J model) engine but its still rated for 200hp. Are you compensating your climb speed with altitude? That POH gives you Vy speeds for different altitudes.

Oh, I can make 16,000 on a hot summer day in my M20F and I do it regularly. It takes a bit but it can certainly get there. Its not super long though. I circled up to 16,000 a couple days ago to get over an icy overccast over Edwards AFB area (just to the South) and it probably took me less than 20 minutes.

@Scrapheap71 Sorry about the music. My 3 year old son loves the music and "Top Gun Aviation" maintains the aircraft.

Top Gun is a bit presumptuous and everyone uses it. Since the Mooney used to be called the American Messerschmidt, I particularly like German classical music. Bach, Mozart (close enough to German) creates a pleasing atmosphere for the adrenalin pumping Mooney. Thank you for the fine video.

Mooneys in Stockton, CA is called Top Gun. At this moment I am learning the Bach Invention in E major so I am in tune with your music. Maybe when I get it down perfectly I can substitute for the Harold Faltermeyer compositions .

but realize, this song for "Flying" Videos, is really worn out. bad enough for even an F-14, let alone your little mooney. other than that, nice vid.

Top Gun Aviation, Stockton, California is where all the maintenance, new engine, prop overhaul, new OX tanks, etc. has been done. Can someone suggest more appropriate music.................seems like Top Gun themes grate on people.
