Beaker helps my habit. And no, I don't ever smoke around him or in the house.

  • we recently bought a dusky conure. the owner at the bird farm who sold him to us, (she has a degree in orinthology) told us to keep our conure in the cage and take him out only to teach him how to step up. the sessions are for 15 mins three times a day and we are to increase the time out of the cage only if he's gained weight. He's now at 20 to 25 mins, 4xs a day. He weighs 103 grams. He weighed 114 grams at the farm. any experts out there know if there's any truth to this?

  • @pelucitadered I've heard something along those lines but I'm not an 'expert'. Exercising the step-up is very good though as it helps to form trust and bonding between you. Both of mine are bonded with me so there's complete trust and they have free reign as long as I'm home. Any time I'm not at home they remain caged. If nothing, for their safety; don't want them getting into some sort of trouble.

  • I am really curious if you know for sure that Beaker is a male. How did you find out that he was? I by watching his videos feel he behaviorally seems to be. I have a dna tested female Hahn's Macaw baby, 6 months old that I really thought was a male. Was I surprised!!! Also, how on earth did you get Beaker to eat the Zupreem pellets? Mine eats everything but that and I really want her on them for her health.

  • @stormy647 Beaker has been DNA sexed. I didn't get them to eat anything. I just tried a bunch of things until I found what they like. Zupreem and RoudyBush are their favorites.

  • i dont care abut the tabacco, if that bird really didnt like the stuff then he would've flown away the first day guys, so just let the guy have fun time with his bird, only if the bird was confined in a small cage i would be sorry for him

  • @bombersander Thanks. The birds have very large cages (two in fact) and when I'm at home they have free range. So they get a lot of out/play time. I believe any animal should have as much space as you can possibly do/afford/allow.

  • Oh come on freaks !! This bird is not going to get cancer, he grabs the brand new cigaret by the FILTER for 3 seconds... Get a life, this seams to be an amazing owner spending a lot of time with his bird. OH my god do some people have absolutely NO LIFE !!!

Keep up the good work with your birds, you're great ;-)

  • @tripjet999 Thanks for the advise. :) And thanks for presuming to know my life, habits and how I interact with my birds which are very healthy, loved, cared for and have lived that way for a very long time. This video was a one time glimpse into our lives so I can see how one could deduce every other aspect of our lives from that mere speck of time. Congrats Watson.

  • Beaker is lovely. :) And it seems you love him very much. Which is why I must repeat that it isn't a good idea to let a flighted bird outside without a harness. I'm not trying to be judgmental. Eight years ago we got bad info from a breeder that told my father it was okay to bring our clipped African Grey outside. She very nearly flew away. She's fine, but the experience was terrifying and that's not something I want you to have to experience.

  • @NerdBirdBeaker I really find people who over react and pretend to know everything about something they know every little about, very irritating. Just from the looks of your porch it looks very nice. So, I would think that you take very good care of your bird! Enjoy your birdie and never mind about negative thinking people!

  • lol funny vidoe

  • @NerdBirdBeaker Thanks so much for all of your helpful advice. I will keep trying with the Zupreem and also the Roudybush as well. I have found over the years that the Hahn's Macaw is a wonderful choice as a companion. I have found them to be extremely intelligent and loyal and absolutely full of personality. I have two females Hahn's Macaws, neither of which talk but that could just be a coincidence. They both are incredibly affectionate and really bonded to me. I just adore them both.

  • @tripjet999 u do realise tht it's been proven tht owning a bird is worse for your health than smoking a pack a day?

  • I had a dwarf parrot (not sure if you write it like that) myself and they're indeed awesome animals :)
