I taped this kata in the spur of the moment. At first doubted myself to upload it, but thought if I can tape a better version later I will replace it.
Sanchin Kata is our intermediate breath kata. We place it as a green belt (5th kyu) kata in our Shuri-ryu Karate. As many already know, this kata utilizes relaxation and tension with relaxed inhale and force exhaled breathing. When properly executed / performed, the kata invigorates the whole body/mind/spirit. The performer finishes feeling exhilarated. During performance, in some karate systems, other students will take target of punching or kicking the performer in select targets while under tension. This demonstrates that the performer is achieving the necessary dynamics in the body's muscular tension phase.
Interpreted as Three Conflicts Form, the many transliterations give description to the importance of 'three' in our life. Birth, Survival & Death; Body, Mind & Spirit are but a couple of these 'threes'.
@1banryukyu, I did see your kata Sanchin on your page. Nice performance. I can see those differences. My short brush with Uechi-ryu was with Ted and Kim Kresge in St. Pete, Fla. Interesting how Kanbun sensei imparted his sanchin as such. Certainly closer to the White Crane Kung-fu origins as history indicates in the Fukien province of China. As for my traditional kobudo. That is also a connective part of our discipline. I do enjoy working the five major weapons and occasional iaido.

Ho Oo Ryu which is the Sanchin kata we do is based on Uechi Ryu's Sanchin Kata. But we start off with our Nukite on the front leg.You can see it on my Youtube page. I see that you have weapons on your wall do you also do Kobudo?

@1banryukyu , Yes, nukite-zuki. The use of kiba-dachi is contributed by the late O'Sensei Robert Trias. We have opening and closing in all of our Shuri-ryu kata in kiba-dachi. This is not the case with our Goju-Shorei-ryu katas though.

Thank you Sensei for posting your style's Sanchin. I learned the Uechi Ryu's Sanchin and I learned the Kyokushin Sanchin which is the Go Ju Ryu's Sanchin Kata. I have seen the Isshin Ryu's Sanchin and Ryuei Ryu's also. I think this is the 1st time I've seen someone go into the kiba dachi. Are you doing heriken zuki or nukite zuki? Osu
