Actually, it will work fine but the screws for the cover NEED to be torqued back factory specs. So you will need a torque wrench, torque screwdriver rather or you will hear clicking noises. It's a common mistake so many ppl make after fooling with the hhd.

Just a note to anyone silly enough to try this with their own hard drive -
Hard drives are hermetically sealed to prevent dust from ruining the surface of the disc. Once opened, and the seal broken, the hard drive becomes useless.
TLDR: Don't open it, it'll break.

@luciaaf3110 they will work if the case is opened, but dust and moisture will destroy the surface of the disk
