A one transistor regenerative receiver based on this design http://home.pacbell.net/lengal/ip/amregen.pdf with some modifications from Charles Kitchin's simple regen http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Technology/tis/info/pdf/0009061.pdf to stabilize the transistor bias. Here is the schematic for my version http://i.imgur.com/pPXKP.png I'm documenting this in a video since I'll soon be tearing this circuit apart to make something new.

  • Hello!

Tell me, this regenerative radio received signal is SSB?

  • @biowolf1977 This radio is for the AM broadcast band so it's receiving AM signals. However, a regenerative receiver like this can be used on the ham bands for receiving SSB and CW.

  • The reason that your signal is louder when you put it on it's side is due to the orientation of the coil. . But very nice project indeed. Very nice.

  • @AmericanCryer Thanks for the comment. I realized later that in AM radios with loopstick antennas that the coil is always mounted horizontally. That's probably what I should have done here. I never have gone back to this project. This year I may try rebuilding it for the amateur and shortwave bands.

  • @caiserECEguy I just got my Amateur Tech class. I am trying to construct a CW transceiver as a club project. I personally want try and build my own Short wave transceiver. But that would be a large project.

  • @AmericanCryer Congrats on earning your license. I passed Tech+General several months ago and I'm still working on getting my station up and going. Building a complete transceiver would be pretty tough but it's not impossible. Good luck on your projects. 73's!
