Shabir Ally and Jay Smith [ Debate; Who is the true Jesus?, ]
The following excerpt was taken from the debate took place at Robert Ferst Center for the Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA between Shabir Ally and Jay Smith.
The Topic of Debate was Who is the true Jesus?
A Comparative Analysis of the Jesus of the Qur'an and the Jesus of the Bible
@bobbywgoodwin Sorry, I was cutting and pasting to make it fit. cut out too much. Jesus is called the Son of David in many places (not Nathan mentioned)
Joseph from Solomon, Mary from Nathan. So both from David (and hence Judah)
From Solomon, Jesus could not be Messiah through the curse, but Jesus was legally son of Joseph, but physically (of the flesh) through Nathan (no curse)
There are dozens of scriptures saying "Son of David" you really want a list?
btw KJV is reliable. mistakes?

I'm not sure what version of the Bible you are reading from but in the KJV Natham is not mentioned in ANY scripture in the NT except in the geneology chart of Luke 3:31, showing him as the son of David. Mathew's geneology chart shows "Solomon" as David's son, not Nathan. When yo make a statement about scriptures, please give the chapter and verse. You claimed Nathan was in 6 other books, and that is surely untrue. Even the KJV is unreliable; filled with contradictions and mistakes. Comments?

@bobbywgoodwin true, nothing that specifically says she is from Judah, but there are many allusions to it. Verses that confirn the lineage through Nathan are found many times in Mathew , Mark, Luke, Acts, Romans Hebrews Revelation
I dont get quite where you are coming from, are you saying the Bible DOESN'T teach Jesus is the Messiah, or that IT DOES but you dont believe the bible is true? not sure what your point is.
There are very good reasons why it could be no one else but Jesus.

Thanks for responding, but I can't find anything in the New Testament that specifically says Mary was of the lineage of David. Could you tell me the exact verse? Also, Jesus did not fulfill the virgin birth prophesy (Isaiah 7:14) because that prophesy had already been fulfilled during the time of King Ahaz. Furthermore, the name of the child born of the young woman/virgin was "Immanuel", not Jesus. Any theory on this? Thanks Niceperson

@bobbywgoodwin You got it completely wrong there, Mary was not a Levite, She may have had Levite relatives but she was descended from David, There was a Miriam (Mary), a prophetess, who was the elder sister of both Aaron and Moses. Maybe you confused the two? Her genealogy is given in Luke and mentioned in Hebrews.

@mizASS Who's ;ooling for a fight? I just shared what I know about revisions for you, how was I sounding bad or nasty? I just tried to help by giving some info. There was no bad intent or words I gave you, just some help?
You asked a question "Why is the Bible constantly being revised?" I gave an answer in pleasant language, where's the fight in that? I WAS being nice, why do you think that was bad of men? I said nothing wrong to you. Chill :)

It's funny how on all these debates i watch christians always go into their own philosophy when asked about trinity and can never really explain it.
