The smartest cat!

Macaroon is my new kitty. She's just over a year old. Baloney passed away November of 2010 at 19, and I finally broke down and went to the shelter to find a new companion. Macaroon had lived with a crazy cat lady for the first year of her life, then was rescued by a shelter, but put on the euthenizing list because she was dying of a respiratory infection. Then a no-kill shelter rescued her from there and nursed her back to health. Then I gave her a home! :)

She's super smart! I didn't try to teach her to pull the toy string. She just observed and then eventually tried it herself a week later. In fact, she was terrified of the toy when she first saw it moving by itself (I believe, since it didn't smell like it was alive, yet moved). It was interesting to observe the process of her gradually understanding that it was just a mechanism, with a string.
