Confession is a healing sacrament. The prayer of absolution, which the priest prays while administering the sacrament, says "I absolve you from your sin the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." It is in God's name the priest forgives, not in his own name. The Bible tells us to confess our sins to one another. In the Didache, It says "confess your sins in Church". What that shows is that the first Christians confessed their sins according to the way Jesus instructed us to do so. What a great feeling to hear the priest give us absolution for our sins, "I absolve you from your sin". The Redemption of Christ made real and given to us face to face in the Church, and to live the Redemption of Jesus everyday. Fulton Sheen says in his book "Life of Christ", "Our Lord never told anyone to write about His Redemption, but He did tell His Apostles to renew it, apply it, and commemorate it by obeying His commands at the Last Supper".

  • John 10: 34

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, YE ARE GODS?

  • @Liebhabaer1974 sorry, you need to go find the channel " science fiction debates...."

  • Jesus didn't come to teach a new religion or to be worshipped.

He taught cosmic laws, an unknown higher science, natural laws like the force of gravity which can't be changed for own interests, to deliver from man-made religious duties.

The Ancient "Gods" of the heathens and the Bible had been extra-terrestial masters of Light, which taught wisdom and knowledge of the universe.

He taught cosmic laws..." OK, now we know where you get your information...TV. Jesus is our God, and I pray you learn the truth, and not internet and TV gossip. Remember, He has not forgotten you.

  • Thank God for this healing Sacrament Jesus gave us. Baptism takes away original sin, what would we do afterwards? That Christ gave the Apostles the power to forgive sins by handing on the keys is our redeeming grace.

Thank you for a nicely defined post.

    Peace be with you.

  • Matthew 6:

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven...

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men...

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions (like the rosary), as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

  • When did Jesus teach to pray the rosary?

    John 8:

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I AM THE LIGHT of the world: HE THAT FOLLOWETH ME shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    Mark 11:

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, WHEN YE PRAY, BELIEVE THAT YE RECEIVE THEM, AND YE SHALL HAVE THEM.

25 When ye stand praying, FORGIVE, if ye have ought against any: that YOUR FATHER also which is in heaven may FORGIVE YOU YOUR trespasses.

  • John 8:

7 He that is WITHOUT sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one...and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her,

NEITHER DO I CONDEMN THEE: GO, AND SIN NO MORE.

    Matthew 5:

20 For I say unto you, That except your RIGHTEOUSNESS shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

    Matthew 6:

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

  • @joannelarcher

The Catholic Church are hypocrites like the Pharisees and didn't keep Jesus commandments in the Middle Age and even today in the USA.

    EZEKIEL 18:

21 BUT IF THE WICKED WILL TURN FROM ALL HIS SINS that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, HE SHALL SURELY LIVE, HE SHALL NOT DIE.

22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done HE SHALL LIVE.

  • @joannelarcher You have obviously miss understood what I wrote.I know this too be true........God bless

  • @Liebhabaer1974 the catholic church teach this too. We read everything in the Bible, not just whatever pertains to people's tastes.

  • @EucharistismyGod Because Jesus Christ is a man, the Son Of God, not girl or women, and Priests represent Jesus Christ, a man, the Son of God.
