  • I also love Thile's interpretation of Prelude in E Major--I'm a fellow mandolinist and he's my hero--however, I think Bela's version is more successful. The transition seems to be more fluid to the banjo than the mandolin, oddly enough. There's a musicality and an aesthetic quality that Fleck manages to bring to the music which is lacking in Thile's. I don't mean to take anything away from his immense talent on the mandolin, I just find it interesting how awesome this sounds on the banjo. :D

  • Bella has always had the gift....AND he practiced ALL HE TIME...He is a treasure..I met him in Boston in 1979 and I haden't heard of him. I was tr

What a gift he has. He has always practiced and he has had the passion for a long time...The rest of us still play because we have the passion and the love of the music, but we all don't have the "gift" and Bella has it. Buy tickets and support those that also have those gifts and have chosen music as career....

  • I clicked on this kinda expecting that I'd watch it and think 'well yeah, it's pretty and impressive, but what's the point?'

    I was wrong.

    This is beautiful.

  • I admire this guy so much.

  • @autobot69000 To start, I'd suggest making a deal with the devil.

  • Perhaps not the best picture quality, but the sound is wonderful- and so is Bela Fleck's playing. I have his classical recording, "Perpetual Motion", and it's wonderful. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • where can i learn to play like this?!!
