it certainly did serve purpose and helped me alot ive just passed test and have a gsxr600 been looking at stands for cleaning wheels, chain, lubing etc but didnt have a clue how they worked til now thanks again so basically it just sits under the swing arms on the flat bits and is raised like that then? Are most stands compatible with all bikes then?

thanks! do u need to lock the front brake or is it not necassary?

No need to lock or do anything with the front, the bike is lifted on the rear stand, which holds it steady.

Thank you very much the 2x4 is such a good idea...I was having trouble trying to hold it vertical and then pushing down on the stand!

I own a ZX-6R with only passing my test near on 2 years ago, before then a 125cc which was a piece of cake to lift, with one hand on the rear seat to stabilise and the other using the paddock stand.

I never did like the idea of trying to lift a 600. But the block of wood is your winning factor. Thanks for posting.

the wood block is a very smart idea, i have seen a few bikes get away from the owner when they lift it to vertical...once it crosses the center line, its going over..

nice was actually really helpful (the bit about it being ajustable to your swingarm size) cheers, anyone know if 2 wheels a side (4 total) are better addock stands than the ones with 1 roller wheel each side of the swingarm (2 total on the paddock stand)( is better?
