For every 15 female victims of a violent assault in Australia there are 24 male victims. I have been hospitalized from assault before and I can tell you that no one showed me the support that I would have been afforded had I been a woman. I am a man, therefore expendable and such is the way of our "advanced" Western Culture. Women are afforded such privileges as to take them completely for granted, and continue to maintain their deluded ideas of self-entitlement. Violence upon "PEOPLE" must end!

@sp00nytube true, I really cant take serious people (men/women) when they use the old bogus rethoric boys vs girls. We r in 2011 not 1968 we should have get smarter than that. All the semplicistic theoryes who sum everything up in good vs evil r always plain wrong. Social dynamics r far to complex to be potrayed with the same fraudolent equation. And im puzzled that some people, despite all moder mass media at disposal they stick to it like it was a religious thing. To much banality, sad indeed.

This is bullcrap, Why stop violence against women only?, women are distinct in our society therefore subject to violence moreso, they are especially hated for that distinction. You won't stop voilence against women, only make it worse. You only care about women and not men, therefore the double standard, therefore the resentment.

@iakunakuncula I don't doubt women face that, and I hope you don't doubt that men face the EXACT same thing. Hence my questioning of the term "violence against women" and what it suggests about the relevance of a victims' gender. Nobody should receive more or less support based on their race, religion, sexuality, and certainly not their biology.

@sp00nytube Yes, you might think life is brighter on the other side... But its not. Many female victims dont report the crimes against them because they fear no one will believe or give the support they need. Im sorry for all the victims of violance, no matter the gender!!! The main problem with violance against women is that this type of behavior is so natural for many members of our society that it appears to them a being natural and no real problem at all. :(

@Kenshiroit Yup not wrong. I suppose that's one of the most damaging parts for me to hear "Men are the reason" as if it is the gender that is the governing factor of the actions that abusers take. Anger, depression, substance abuse, stress and trauma are the motives for violence, not anatomy. Men are definitely more likely, but that shouldn't incriminate all of us. I think it's well overdue that kind of mentality gets buried along with violence itself. Encouragement for good people is a must!
