Go Green Host Bob Kinsey talks about alternative election methods with Gary Swing and Frank Atwood. Kinsey, the 2010 U.S. Senate candidate, introduced Instant Runoff Voting, which is endorsed by the Colorado Greens. Swing, the 2010 U.S. Congressional Representative candidate, introduces proportional voting - an election process that ensures better Green representation, often used in European countries. Atwood, a Libertarian activist, introduces approval voting. Produced by Tanya Ishikawa for the Colorado Green Party. Thanks to Denver Open Media and the Open Media Foundation. May 2010
@Mutex50 We need a gradualist approach to change the fundamentals of how the system works. People who support a different voting system should band together to form a PAC or even a party whose sole purpose is to get rid of plurality. We need to vote for people who support this regardless of what other positions those candidates have.

Ideally, I'd prefer the Condorcet method be used. For pragmatic purposes though, I support an open non-partisan primary with approval voting and a runoff between the top two candidates with the highest approval rating. With Approval voting, we don't have to change voting machines which would be an obstacle to implementing a new voting system.
