@mudchair16 Armies of Tofu, heil Seitan!

@hornylink Stimuli? Like what?
-
@FemaleUnknownUser you've never grown a plant have you? you can distinctly observe them responding to various stimuli
-
@hornylink Uh, plants don't really move, you know. Except for mimosae.
-
@FemaleUnknownUser if plants don't feel how do they move towards positive stimuli and away from negative stimuli?
-
@hornylink Ok, since English isn't my mother language, I looked up the definition for sentient: 1) Having sense perception; conscious; 2. Experiencing sensation or feeling.
So I'm glad to inform you that yes, cows are indeed sentient.
And plants, by the way, don't feel - they don't have a nervous system, neurotransmitters, a center (like a brain) or any of the other stuff they'd need.
-
@FemaleUnknownUser the century where we use the correct definitions of words. Feeling doesn't make something sentient, plants feel. Self awareness/consciousness rather than purely instinct driven motives defines sentience
-
@hornylink Excuse me, what century do you live in? Cows have a nervous system exactly like you and me. If you poke a cow with a stick, it will move to avoid the sensation (if you poke hard, the pain). Of course cows are sentient!
-
@FemaleUnknownUser yup, and we have anti murder laws to prevent that. Unless you're trying to say cows are sentient in which case I'm sorry to inform you that no, no they're not. There are a few animals that have a low level sentience, we don't eat any of them.
Ah, vegan. Food's answer to religion.
