@NasirAlHanbali Asalamu alaikum, May Allah guide us to the truth. Ibn Taymiyyah Rahmatullah Alaihi never directly referred to himself as Salafi. It's a common mistake amongst some Salafi circles. Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H rahimahullaah) said: "There is no blame on the one who manifests/proclaims the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf...because the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf is nothing but the Truth (Haqq)." [From Majmoo al-Fataawaa, 4:149.]

RATHER, IT IS OBLIGATOTY TO ACCEPT THAT FROM HIM BY IJMA because the way (madhdhab) of the Salaf is nothing but the Truth (Haqq)." [Majmoo al-Fataawaa 4:149]  Ibn Taymiyah quoted Ijma on ascribing to Salafiyyah and the Scholars say Ibn Taymiyah is HIGHLY RELIABLE when he CITES IJMA.
