  • Does this technique applies to larger numbers?

  • 0-0=0

    0-1= -1 or 0

    0-2= -2 or 0

so forth...so they can see that -1 is the same as zero.

And when a kid says " zero minus 10 trillion!" will be the same as zero or -10 trillion.and when the child says that, then I know they understand how zero works.

  • for young kids I'd buy a bunch of different things at the dollar store and place five items on the table and have them take away the amount(s). I would have them learn all the take aways...

    5-1

    5-2

    5-3

    5-4

    5-5

so they learn all the take aways for that number. it will take a little longer but I think it will help.

  • im

  • this even helps me a lot! By the way, I use these videos for home school, it's excellent

  • 4 oranges 3 dissapear, how many left? way better this way

  • @Distinctforever never forgett, once you didn´t know too. And if your child doesn´t understand, would you call your own child stupid?! I hope not^^

  • This is easy. Kids must be stupid!

  • A little more advanced than kindergarten math, I remember teaching a friend atomic structure with M&M's (yellow=electrons, red=neutrons, blue=protons). It was a fun and tasty tutoring session :) candy would be great a great incentive when teaching a youngster math as long as they don't get wired on it
