Car ride home, friend is sleeping and we poured water in his mouth. Didnt work first 2 times cuz we messed up, 3rd times a charm.

The reason you drown is because there is no oxygen in water that it usable to us, there for we basically suffocate. And just because you seem like the type of person that needs help understanding words here is the definition of suffocate:

@FallingGuyProduction choking on the water leads to drowning dude... Learn what choke means. It's when difficulty of breathing takes place by interference by blockage. Even though the water fills the lungs, it blocks the lungs from expanding and letting air in, leading to drowning.
