  • Positive fact is that the great dam will do a good job against spring flooding of lower areas. . .

  • dude, dams have a pretty huge impact on the environment. Fish habitat? I highly doubt that reservoir will be filled with fish considering the amount of ships traveling in it (pollution) and the Dam itself poses a major obstacle in any fish trying to move up or down river.  The Chinese unfortunately appear to be magnifying the environmental impact by simply building new, environmentally unfriendly cities to sustain the thousands if not millions of people who need to be replaced.

  • He doesn't talk about how much the Three Gorges dam saved in terms of trees, less burning of fossil fuels, less nuclear waste, less carbon emission, less energy wasted in costly desalinization.

    Dams are one of the BEST ways of creating energy while at the same time having a small effect on the environment. Dams create fish habit, habit for fresh water plants and animals, hunting grounds for large predators.
