Heathrow Airport - Sat 18th & Sun 19th December 2010

After a day with very little information and no help from the airport authority (BAA) and nothing from the airline (Lufhansa in my case - with offices closed, no staff present and phone-lines unanswered), as well as a total breakdown of transport and communication between different airport services, it hit early hours and I decided to pickup a few other passenger's thoughts on my phone.

  • @judyroodi i did the same... but my adventure was in dubai back in july lool i was stranded there for a whole week too..

  • @charlieiscool1000 Why are you not use to snow my brother was 5 years ago in london, and he told me they caneld snow busses and trains just because of a couple of centemeters... so why are you not use to snow when you have at least for the last 5 years snow?

  • Some of these people don't know that the weather system in the UK is so unpredictable because of the gulf stream.

  • Inch of Snow? I live like 4 miles from Heathrow and We got like 1 foot of snow.

  • Were not use to snow and it seems these ppl wud rather take off and crash then wait for the snow too be cleared probely and safley

We all did and would... Of course we can always try to make the best of the situation, but it still sucks in many ways... Some people spent all their money on food there, spent days there, heck, so many people weren't able to be home for christmas... and the airlines wouldn't give us any information whatsoever.

But I guess we are both lucky for bringing, somehow, good memories amidst all that. (And in my case I was extremely lucky to get on a flight after just 2 days)

Dear judyroodi, I was also stuck in Heathrow this December.

The people here aren't "moaning". They were demanding basic human dignity.

I made friends too during my (luckily) small stay at Heathrow, but the way airlines and most security at the airport handled this situation and the way they treated us was outrageous. The character limit won't allow me to say much here, but well...

Perhaps you should actually *see* the video you are commenting on before you click the post button.

  • I was stuck there for a week and have my own horror story that resulted in me loosing all my money and noe British Airways says they are not responsible to compensate the money for my ticket and expences. I know alot of other peolpe are in the same situation. What can we do? we can not let them get away with this

  • its not the worlds largest airport its the worlds bussiest airport, the largest airports are in the US
