Lost

We set a course for the northern hills.
Rolled on through the gate to see the frost.
Our little mystery convoy
Missed an exit ramp, and now were lost.

We traveled through a sparkling tunnel
With flashing lights and disco balls.
On and on, and out the other side
To find ninety-five shopping malls.

Run yourself a mile down the parkway.
Loop around the bend on the expressway.
Turn a new direction on the turnpike.
Cross the bridge across the streams that look alike.

On the starry night,
Through the boulevards,
In the town of motels,
We searched for crystal shards.

Roundabouts
And neon signs paint the town
On the tubular quest
For the fluorescent crown.

Through the mountains of elastic,
Plastic robots sing.
Through the alleys in the valleys,
Feel their music swing
On and on.

We stopped for coffee in Sasquatch Town.
As the glitter poured down, we plowed through snow.
We had just no idea where we were,
What to see and do, where to go.

We passed a herd of orange buffalo,
Grazing on the plains of question marks.
By and by, see the rainbows fly
To the polka-dot lakes and parks.

Take the cloverleaf onto the freeway.
Exit at the junction with the trafficway.
Take the beltway round and round the town of rain.
Fly over the interchange, and take the left lane.

Lost in a land of spinning trees,
Flying turtles and wallabies.
Lost in a sea of telephones,
Purple rivers, and traffic cones.

Lost in a jungle of silver grass,
Where the trolls march under the overpass.
Lost in a desert where the sand is pink,
And the fish all laugh at the kitchen sink.

And we won't ask for directions.
