From his 1979 album Lodger

Lyrics:

Feel a bit roughed up, feel a bit frightened
Nearly pin it down some time
Red sail action wake up in the wrong town
Boy, I really get around

Thunder ocean
Thunder ocean
Red sails take me, make me sail along

Red sails, and a mast so tall
Red sail
Red sail

Do you remember we another person
Green and black and red and so scared
Graffiti on the wall kept us all in tune
Bringing us all back home

Red sails
Thunder ocean
Red sails
Sailor can't dance like you, ooh, yooou

Ahh, red sail
Red sail action
Red sail
Some reaction

Action boy seen living under neon
Struggling the foreign tongue
Red sails make him strong
Action make him sail along
Life stands still and stares

The hinterland, the hinterland
We're gonna sail to the hinterland
It's far far, far far far, far far far away
Its a far far, far far fa, da da da, da da da
....

This song is the most Neu! of his 'trilogy' songs and sounds cool. The Adrian Belew explosion of guitar is pretty cool, too.

True avant-garde rock. Intelligent lyrics, captivating, exciting, brilliant. No artist today can duplicate. noone has the intelligence today, bad educations, bad attititudes and petty conerns, its very tragic...

Love the song.... wished the recording was better quality.

The entire album suffers with below par sound...a shame really.

come on, this song alone has more ideas than all neu! albums -- all he took from them was the sound

No mistake it was put in there to make the song even more awsome.

He is also using a bit of stacatto (why the note goes flat very quickly) I love this bit, best bit of the song in my opinion :)

interesting, and while it seems at first like an error, with time i appreciate it more and would miss it if it wasn't played that way

As a guitarist for 15 years myself, i can tell you that's no mistake, its just a bit of syncopation and palm muting.

IMHO, Bowies "best" album is the one your in the "mood" for at any given point in time..take your pick. Thanks God for Bowie...

One of my faves from Lodger...most interesting of note is the intentional error in the descending guitar solo sequence that occurs at 0:42, (sequence begins at 0:35). It bothered me for years that this glaring mistake was not addressed in edit till i was informed that this was a stylistic cue of the punk times....i.e. not to be perfect i.e. to make an odd unexpected turn, twist, or change. hmm..Bowie never did that now did he!...lol
