Amy Torres did anthropological field research on life in poor urban communities and the problems that people confront in Bolivia, while simultaneously engaging in service work, including construction of a community center, teaching English, helping women to learn crafts and start a business, and producing a documentary film and website about ambulant market vendors.
Amy is advised by Dr. Daniel Goldstein, Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Center for Latin American Studies.
It seems a very worthy cause and volunteer work. The center and or the anthropologist should look into the children who live in jail because ther parents are jailed. This sad story takes place heavely in the San Pedro penitenciary and the suffering of the children is visible.
