This is the third round of a controversial ending of a fight between 2 female professional MMA fighters, Angela Magana v Jessica Aguilar. The fight was stopped in the third round when the referee determined that Angela Magana verbally submitted. However, Angela steadfastly maintains she in no way indicated she was submitting, but was merely complaining to the ref that Jessica Aguilar's blood was pouring into Angela's eye preventing her from seeing well.

If you watch this third round, you will notice there was no reason that Angela Magana would have submitted as she was in a controlling position. This fight took place in March in Florida. Jessica Aguilar was a local woman and before the fight the referee and her exchanged a hug and a kiss.

The announcers, including the legendary Dan Severn were dumbfounded that the fight was stopped. Please express your opinions about whether you think this fight should have been stopped at that point.

Yup, Angela won the rematch (this was their 3rd fight actually). Ultimate redemption.

Yes Angela is a much improved fighter. Aguilar fights Rosi Sexton this month. I think Rosi will defeat her easily as she is one of the best.

I agree and luckily in their rematch earlier this year at the Gfight tournament in Indiana, Angela clearly defeated Jessica in a match where the ref was not biased.

Sadly, it appeared the fix was in. The ref hugged and kissed Jessica before the fight. When he saw she was in trouble in the 3rd round, he made up a BS verbal submission to award Jessica the match.

In a fair bout at gfight on 1/17, Angela beat Jessica via decision. 2 judges called it for Angela, the other called it a draw.

It was a very suspicious stoppage that seemed totally unjusified. Angela and Jessica are slated for a rematch on January 17 in Evansville Indiana as part of the Gfight last woman standing 8 person tournament. The fighter that wins all 3 of her fights is the champion. Jessica and Angela meet in a first round match.
