*Beginning of the Buddy Walk 08*
For the past 2 years my family and I have been coming to support the NYC Buddy Walk. With the help of people worldwide this walk advocates for individuals with Down Syndrome. It first began in 1995 and is becoming more and more recognized as years progress. It was such a wonderful day to see so many families and their loved ones sharing a moment like the one my family and I did today. The walk took place in Central Park, and over 4,000 people in attendance! What a beautiful feeling to know that there are people who truly care about this cause, want to make a difference, and start off by taking baby steps. This cause is one that truly means the world to me and I am so ecstatic I attended. I look forward to the following year to do it all over again. I hope that some of you may feel inspired to be one more person to help promote the awareness of these individuals with special disabilities known as Down Syndrome. To see those illuminating smiles, hear the laughter of these children, and most importantly know that there are people out there who want to make a difference in someones life almost brought me to tears, tears of joy of course. I hope to see you all in the Buddy Walk for 2009!
Con amor,
Denise
