Car chase involving a Ford Mustang and Nissan Skyline across town. The Prodigy's 'OMEN' as soundtrack. Designed as part of an anti-drink drive campaign for university project. Feedback most welcome - Enjoy!! :D

  • did u make this in 3ds max

  • yep, animation done in 3ds max, and some visual effects done in After Effects, and edited in Premiere Pro

  • What effects did you do in After Effects?

  • nothing major, just using 3 layers of the same footage and messing with the color correction stuff to get one layer to show red, one to show blue, and the background high contrast b&w

  • Pretty cool. Im working on an animation. Still making the trailer though. 3DS and AE

  • cool, yeah the light effects get the blinking effect by going into the animation graph and adjusting the curve for the intensity to appear as 'on' then 'off' continuously

  • You need more speed, especially at the start. When the car crosses the two buildings with the police car waiting, it looks like it is doing 40-50km/h at most (25-30mph).

Its a bit too dark in areas like you've already mentioned.

You might be able to invoke more urgency and speed with better positioned cameras.

  • I am an intermediate designer studying to become pro, and so the lights were just moved on and off the screen to give it the blinking effect? And yeah i know what glow lens effect is.

  • Cheers mate, I was actually going for a dark Sin City kinda feel. But some scene came out a bit too dark I think lol

  • The police car lights are simple glow lens effects that I added, because 'real' lights would have increased my render times. I don't know how much you know about 3ds Max, but the effects are then just animated to appear on and off basically. Hope that helps =)
