Is "Cash for Clunkers" Bad For The Environment?
Lauren Fix / Fox News with Neil Cavuto August 4, 2009
Did the government take a good look at the environmental impact to land fills, the future, the hazardous waste or just the short sighted view to get cars off lots and put consumers in more debt.
now, i'm sure this happened several times.....lets say john doe is trying to keep up with the jones....so he trades in his ~2000 chevrolet suburban for a new one that might get 1 mpg better, and is just as dirty.......there went a good vehicle that someone could have used, and noe john doe has yet another big suv

If one really likes to help the environment, simply increase gas prices gradually.
It will make people service their vehicles, use other ways of transportation more frequently, trade in pre '85 guzzlers who lack FI, katalyst and electonic motor management, buy new econoboxes and it helpes the used car sales and autoshops. The entire chain benefits; it even makes the govt. richer, instead of poorer. Even ppl who can't afford a car support the c4c program via taxes; that's fvcked up. My 2 cents.
