I was having same problem, and noticed that the very back pull-tab was not pulled all the way out. In fact, it had ripped and was partly still inside. I removed it with a pair of needle nose pliars and now it plays the full songs! Wish i had figured this out 2 years ago when I bought it. :)

I just bought this toy as a gift and saw this review about two pull tabs. Not sure if this is why you're having problems.
There are two pull-tabs for the battery; one on the front of the packaged toy (so you can hear a sample-about 5 seconds- of the music), and one on the back of the toy itself (so the songs play all the way through).w.
