I would not say that they are as martial as the German Military Music, though Beethoven composed only the York'scher Marsch. From the martial aspect German Marches are superior I guess. American Military Music sounds good, but is not comparable with military music from Germany since the 17th century.

@deralteist ..WRONG !.......American march composers such as Getty H. Huffine, Karl King, E. E. Bagley, Henry Fillmore and Edwin Goldman rank up there with any of the German composers, with the possible exception of Ludwig van Beethoven...and of course there is J. P. Sousa, one of the best martial music composers ever. Take time to learn more about American composers and you'll find what I've said is true.
