UAB Gospel Choir - University of Alabama at Birmingham 40 years, 40 breakthrough stories

As the University of Alabama at Birmingham celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2009, UAB takes a look back at 40 years of breakthroughs in research, health care, education, campus & community life, and outreach. These stories vary in scale and the UAB Gospel Choir (Kevin P. Turner, Director) is honored to be included as a Breakthrough story in the campus and community life category. We are breakthrough story #26 in the Fall 2009 special edition of UAB Magazine and in the history of this university. 14 years ago gospel music was brought down from the choir loft to the classroom and has built an elite reputation —selling out concerts, producing hit CDs & concept videos and attracting an international following. This is a "cause for applause" for American Gospel Music!!
