@starguy2718 He is missed. I'm so happy I got to be there when he made that speech. I was 17 and about to graduate from the John F. Kennedy German-American School in Zehlendorf, a suburb of West Berlin. It was truly amazing to hear President Reagan speak.
R.I.P., Mr. President, your job is done, and done well. You won the Cold War. <3

I appreciate your comment greatly!
Please read my other comments regarding my US military service during the height of the Cold war there.
I felt I was treated very well by the German citizens when I was there and will never forget that!
I feel sort of proud that the service of myself and the millions of other American military had some contribution to the wall coming down.

how very appropriate. as a third generation German immigrant (my grandparents came to the US in the 50s) this really hit home with me. Not only that but I was 9 when the wall fell and I saw it on TV....so yeah...a heritage thing and a personal memory thing

I was involved in cold war military service about 75 miles from the Czech border between 1983-1986.
I had German friends where I served in Augsburg.
None of us at the time thought it possible that the wall was so close to falling, but we knew how close Soviet troops were to us!
