The process of making sourdough is an amazing journey into what bread was always meant to be. Sourdough has superior taste and health benefits to all other breads and the Rambam mentioned oven baked sourdough bread as the most healthiest bread one could eat. After trying homemade sourdough you'll never want commercial yeast bread again. In this step by step video tutorial learn to make authentic spelt sourdough bread using only pure sourdough starter, flour, salt and water. For a great starter follow the instructions at http://youtu.be/LDtvI-coT0c

  • Hiya, can I use whole spelt flour, not white? Also my starter separated with a dark liquid on the top. Can I still use it? thank you!

  • @Teoroy If your starter still smells good then it's fine. Mine does this sometimes and I just stir it together before I use it. My flour is whole spelt, but any flour will work.

  • Shalom, I was wondering if I could use fresh milled wheat in place of the spelt? Thanks in advance.

  • @Ejahi Yes, I have used many different flours and flour combinations with this recipe, the only difference may be how much you need. I find that whole wheat uses less flour than spelt. Good luck

  • Can you leave out the rye flour and just use Spelt flour?

  • @rimmitt100 Yes I you can, sourdough starters can be feed any kind of flour. I find that my starter is the best when feed rye flour so thats what I use, but if I don't have any I'll use whole wheat or spelt or whatever I have around. Good luck
