This estimated 900lb Black Marlin was hooked by Rob Townsend aboard Utopia on a 30cm Skipping Gar during the 2006 Townsville Billfish Challenge. Bowling Green Bay is well known for it's light tackle Marlin & Sailfish action so you can imagine the surprise when this beauty came up on the outrigger...Unfortunately Rob lost it after a 3 1/2 Hour fight

This was hooked on the Juvenile Marlin grounds about 40 miles South East of Townsville Harbour.....I think this big girl took a wrong turn at the Reef & got lost :-)
